By painting outside in nature, there is magic in the paint. This period is full of surprises. There is a struggle inside of me between painting what my viewers want and like and what I need to get out of myself with the paint. I do not always like what I paint and many times do not honor it.

I am focusing more on experiencing new things. Residencies in other places brings fresh energy and life into the paintings. As I paint, I am not sure that I know what I am doing consciously. Spirit enters and I surrender, allowing gifts in the finished works.

2003 – 2006
During this period I have been experimenting with moving an process in my painting. By keeping my brush moving and not spending time mixing, I can stay ahead of my grasping mind. This gives an opportunity to get lost in the paint and process of painting.
